University Scheme

Newcastle & Northumbria

A programme specifically tailored for university students who wish to explore everything Freemasonry has to offer.

There’s so much going on, just remember to leave time for studying.

The Universities’ Scheme was set up at the beginning of 2005 with the objective: ‘To establish and/or enhance arrangements and opportunities for undergraduates and other university members to enjoy Freemasonry’. There are over 70 lodges in England and its Districts overseas that are part of the scheme.

In the Province of Northumberland there are two Lodges associated with the University Scheme, Hostpur Lodge and Duke of Connaught. Both Lodges have many student members from Newcastle and Northumbria Universities.

As part of the University Scheme, regular visits and social events are organised between the other 140 plus Lodges in Northumberland so there’s always something going on every night of the week.
